About Me

Basically…
I’m sixteen years old, and everyone I know calls me Evie, because my real name is far too long.
I live in sunny sunny England, in quite a large, but still beautiful town right on the south coast. We have the best beach in the whole of the UK, I’m pretty sure. When the sun’s out, you can basically much guarantee that almost the entire town will be down there.
I enjoy exercise, but I’m not skilled enough to be able to enjoy sport. People say it doesn’t matter so long as you try, but seriously, it’s hard to enjoy a game of rounders when you can’t even hit the ball once, or enjoy a game of netball where you keep tripping over your own feet. I like running with my music loud, and I also love karate. I got my junior black belt in December ‘07, and hopefully I’ll be able to upgrade to my senior black when I turn seventeen.
Entertainment
Really, there’s nothing better than that joke about the Black-Knight-With-The-White-Horse-And-The-Red-Plume (25 minutes I listened to that stupid thing), but if I’m pushed then reading, listening to music and watching movies and TV aren’t bad fallbacks.
I love reading. I know that makes me a bit of a geek, but I love it anyway. I mostly tend to devour pulp fiction and good chick-lit. Emphasis on the good, by the way. Meg Cabot, Louise Bagshawe and Wendy Holden go down a treat. Sophie Kinsella, Jenny Colgan, not so much. I also love YA - romance, fantasy and sci-fi. Preferably a blend of the three. Scott Westerfeld, Garth Nix and Orson Scott Card are all pretty brilliant. However, the love of my life will always be Harry Potter. I read the first one when I was five, and I’ve never looked back. Twilight (as in the first book, not the rest of the series, which was crap) was great when I first read it, before anyone else over here had even heard of it. Now it’s kind of lost its magic.
I luurve my music. Rock, pop, punk, metal, hip hop, country, blues, indie, dance, R&B and everything in between. I couldn’t do without Green Day or Eminem though, and a playlist consisting of S Club 7, Tilly and the Wall, Busted, McFly, Good Charlotte and Lily Allen will never fail to make me smile.
Romantic comedies are my favourite kinds of movie. I’m also a big fan of Hollywood blockbusters, jam-packed with explosions and car chases. Movies I can watch again and again? A Cinderella Story (admit it, you love it too), The Notebook, School of Rock (how COOL is this movie???), Hercules, Lady and the Tramp and every single Harry Potter (except maybe the fifth one).
I used to like watching the Apprentice and Heroes. They’ve kind of lost something now though, so I can’t be bothered. Current loves are ER, University Challenge and Gossip Girl. Chace Crawford is yummy. End of. Oh, and I’m a newly converted Gleek. Seriously, that show is amezzin.
Ambitions
I want to go to Trinity College, Cambridge.
I want to go to Oxford, to study Engineering, Economics and Management. Maybe specialising in Biomedical Engineering, or going on to work in finance. I haven’t decided on which college I want to apply to yet, but I have to say, Exeter is looking pretty awesome.
To change the world would really be something special. I’d love to be a politician, and help people out rather than bs my way up into government. Failing that, I’d like to have a career in web/graphic design, or to be a writer, living in some fantastically whimsical loft, or travel the world, making TV shows about lost tribes of the Amazon, or unusual cow species of rural China.
But then again I may just end up in an office somewhere.
However, in order to, if at all possible, avoid that fate, I’m going to do all that I can. Believe me.
